Community tourism represents an important means by which local communities can draw benefits from the beauty that surrounds the history and traditions of their society. Interns support these efforts at sustainable and ‘ethical’ tourism, implementing projects alongside community leaders and representatives.
Conservation & Environment
Help conserve one of the world’s most biodiverse countries. With a choice of conservation schemes in the Amazon Rainforest, Cloud forest and even the Galapagos Islands, your work will contribute to the protection and preservation of world-class natural sites.
Human Rights & Law
Aspiring lawyers and development agents need look no further for the work experience needed to boost your resumé. Work performed will contribute to overcoming the ever-present structural exclusion and violations of rights afflicted upon highly vulnerable groups including women, the refugee population and indigenous communities
Media & Journalism
Aimed at media fans, and aspiring journalists and others, our media placements provide high-level exposure to a wide range of outlets and skills including writing for magazines and newspapers, producing radio broadcasts and even filming and editing for television. Moderate Spanish is required for these placements.
Health & Medicine
One of VENAEcuador’s most established programs, we offer aspiring medics or graduates comprehensive work experience in public hospitals tailored to your level of study and experience. Placements available in rural or urban areas, and throughout the regions of Ecuador. Some knowledge of Spanish is required.
Photography & Filming
A rare opportunity to express your creativity amidst some of the world’s most beautiful scenery. Interns are involved in a range of projects including the creation of documentaries for endangered species on the famous Galapagos Islands, or documenting the life of indigenous children in the Amazon Rainforest.
Social Work
Help direct resources to the most vulnerable families and individuals in Ecuador. Support the fulfillment of basic human rights through contributing to social schemes, for the provision of healthcare, nutrition, education and other benefits to excluded populations in marginalized urban and rural areas of the country.
Professionals
In a country where fewer people excercise the necessary skills to perform technical tasks, professionals from abroad can provide a much needed boost to development efforts. Specific openings for professionals are posted here, but open applications are also very welcome.
